SPIRIT ALIVE CHURCH AND PACKERS HALL OF FAMER CHRIS JACKE TACKLE HUNGER & HOMELESSNESS
On Sunday September 27th Spirit Alive Church held an outdoor worship service at Pleasant Prairie Elementary followed by a tailgate cookout courtesy of Pat & Ron’s Hot Dogs, games, and a sports memorabilia silent auction. The community event raised over $430 each for the ELCA Urban Outreach Center and the Shalom Center. Several blankets were also donated for the homeless by attendees.
Chris Jacke, Packers Hall of Fame kicker and Super Bowl XXXI Champion, was on hand to sign autographs, pose for pictures, let people try on his Super Bowl ring, talk with Packers fans and even a few Bears and Vikings fans. “Chris Jacke was such a nice guy and we were pleased to have him on our fundraiser team for the day,” said Spirit Alive event organizer Marge Gentner. The Shalom Center mascot Soupy also made an appearance. “We thank all who attended, as well as our sponsors Buskirk Construction and the Sports Dome for making the day fun and successful,” said Spirit Alive member Mike Crabb.
